About Our LHIN
Mission Statement:
“Health & Wellness for all …
through an innovative, sustainable and accountable system.”
Overview
The North East Local Health Integration Network (North East LHIN) is one of 14 LHINs across the Province of Ontario. It is responsible for planning, integrating and funding health care services for just over 570,000 people across an estimated 400,000 square kilometers.
The North East LHIN region is one that is distinct and vibrant both culturally and linguistically. It has the highest number of French-speaking communities in the province, with Francophones comprising 24 per cent of the region’s population. Aboriginal and First Nation communities make up 10 per cent of the North East region. The North East LHIN works closely with Northeastern Ontario citizens, health service providers and partners to determine the health care priorities and services for the region.
The North East LHIN coordinates services among more than 200 health care service providers, including a community care access centre, community health centres, community mental health and addiction services, community support services, hospitals, and long-term care homes.
Decision Making Framework
In November, 2009, the NE LHIN Board of Directors approved a Decision Making Framework which will be used by NE LHIN staff and Board Directors in the evaluation of proposals for new programs and initiatives, changes to existing programs, and integration proposals.
