Collaboration and Integrated Planning in Health Human Resources

A number of objectives are used to ensure collaborative and integrated planning. These objectives are:
  • Direct planning activities that explore collaboration / integration opportunities necessary to counter the HHR challenges
  • Ensure that the Francophone population as well as the Aboriginal, Métis and First Nations people participate, through existing structures, to determine the best strategies to identify and mitigate the unique HHR challenges within these populations
  • Explore the current and potential uses of “extenders” of HHR capacity such as:
    • information communication technologies (ICT),  and
    • expanded roles of select trades and professions (e.g. trained assistants, PSWs, Nurse Practitioners, Physician assistants, etc.)where appropriate
    • implications / opportunities within Bill 179 – Regulated Health Professions Statute Law Amendment Act, 2009
  • Provide recommendations towards structures (regional vs. local) that will facilitate the development and implementation of the strategies
  • Work collaboratively with post secondary institutions to inform them of the demand and collaborate on new and innovative delivery systems and mechanisms that are tailored specifically to the unique challenges in the North East
  • Establish a working/strategic relationship with Health Force Ontario
  • Examine the functional requirements of a real-time NE Ontario HHR Portal
The following are some of the projects and initiatives that are aligned with these objectives:
  • North East HHR Inventory & Forecasting
  • North East Personal Support Occupations
  • Shared Services / Integration (Under development)
