I am pleased with your vision. It is important to move this vision to reality ASAP. The Boards are not all supporting integration. SRH did not sign the documents as of March 26. It is the largest hospital in the NE and cannot be ignored. the public needs to know that the SRH Board is not supporting a patient centred focus and not supporting a movement to change in that direction

I am a registered nurse who has worked in NE LHIN area for over 40 years and continues to work in nursing. I am encouraging nurses to watch this video, read the Integrated Health Service Plan for 2010-2013 and to support this plan. But I continue to be concerned that the plan does not mention the role of nurses.Nurses work in a multi-disciplinary health care context, providing a unique persective to client care. The nurse is the "glue" that holds the health care system together. The nurse establishes a professional relationship with the patient and family built on trust, respect, dignity and works with the patient and family on making health ahd healing decisions intended to bring about positive change in the patient. The nurse, the patient, the family function as partners in a professional caring relationship.
For the last 8 months I was dialoguing with my collegues as well as nursing students across the NE LHIN about nursing and the role of nurses in clinical collaboration and seamless services delivery. Nurses want to be involved but do not know how. I am advising them to make themselves known to you/NE LHIN. Nurses want this change that the NE LHIN is leading to be sustainable. Nurses want a patient focused health delivery that listens, has integrity, is proactive, has equity and serves all of our LHIN area.
I too would like to be involved. How can I be involved and supportive of the NE LHIN strategic plan and implementation?
